What is a Christian?

A Christian is a person who realizes that they need help. Everyone in the world has done something wrong and in the Bible that is called SIN. God also makes it clear in the Bible that though He loves us and wants us to go to Heaven one day, He wants us, but he does not want sin, in fact He won't allow sin to enter Heaven. So because God wants us to go into the Heaven he has prepared for us, He decided something must be done and that is where Jesus came in.

Jesus,  was born into our world in a very simple and humble way, grew understanding how we as humans are tempted, tested, and what we have to face every day in our struggles. However, Jesus never sinned, he remained clean and pure the whole of his life and at the age of 30 began to preach and teach and do all kinds of miracles to demonstrate God's love to men.

In John 3 verse 16 we read:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but
have everlasting life.

The fact is that God loves everyone of us so much that no sacrifice was deemed too great, he was willing to give his Life for you and me, so that our sin, the one thing that could keep us out of Heaven, could be taken away, and that's exactly what he did.

By dying on the cross for us to demonstrate his love, he made a way back into God's family and reopened the door of Heaven so that anyone who chooses may enter in. He paid the price for our Sin, because we were incapable of doing it for ourselves.

In Romans 6 verse 23,

For the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

You see we deserved to die because of our Sin, but because Jesus was without Sin, He was able to die in our place and pay the price for our Sin. If you want to become a Christian all you have to do is acknowledge there is sin in your life and that you cannot go into Heaven with that. Acknowledge that Jesus died on the cross to deal with your sin and invite Him into your life to take it away.

Then follow him. Become a disciple of Jesus and let him change your life and prepare you for Heaven.
